WESTMINSTER — Julie Flaherty, executive director of Carroll Hospice, has been elected an affiliate of the American Academy of Medical Administrators, aprofessional association of health-care leaders.

The purpose of the AAMA is to develop innovative concepts in health-care administration, and to promote the advancement of members in knowledge, professional standing and personal achievements through continuing education and research in health-care management.

The international society consists of 2,000 health executives.


Signet Bank has promoted Paula R. Woerner of Marriottsville to vice president in the systems and operations services division, where she manages the retail delivery operations in the Maryland region.

Woerner joined the bank in 1967 as a branch teller. After several promotions, she was made a branch manager in 1978, promoted to assistant vice president in 1983 and transferred to retail operations in 1991.

A member of Financial Women International Inc., she has an associate's degree in accounting from Catonsville CommunityCollege.
