Four people were shot, one of them fatally, as their cab pulled to the curb in West Baltimore last night, homicide detectives said.

The four victims, including the driver of the Choice Cab Co. taxi, were shot about 9 p.m. by one or more unknown gunmen as the cab pulled over in the 700 block of Mount St.

A passenger in the back seat was shot several times in the chest and went into cardiac arrest at the scene.

He was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died a short time later.

The cabdriver was shot twice in each leg. His condition was not available last night.

The other two victims, one of them a woman, were less seriously injured, police said. Their identities were not available.

Detectives said that they did not know the motive but that the shooting was not part of a robbery attempt.
