Woman, 72, found slain in the city 2nd elderly victim since Tuesday

March 21, 1992

A 72-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her home yesterday afternoon, the second elderly woman in West Baltimore to be fatally stabbed in three days, police said.

The latest victim, who lived alone in a rowhouse in the 3000 block of Edmondson Ave., was killed sometime within the last two days, homicide detectives said.

A small amount of cash was missing from her purse.

Police, who did not identify the victim last night, said she had been a longtime resident of Edmondson Avenue and had been well-known.

On Tuesday, 70-year-old Louise Griffin was found stabbed to death in her home in the 1600 block of Delano Court, also in West Baltimore. Police said it has not been determined whether the deaths are related.

Ms. Griffin also lived alone and her home was burglarized, police said. Her home was about a mile and a half from that of the more recent victim.

Police said the most recent stabbing victim was found by police officers after concerned neighbors notified authorities that she hadn't been seen recently.
