Patriot Pompon Pair Going To Ireland

March 16, 1992

Two members of Old Mill High School's pompon squad will perform in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland.

Senior Mona Hlavinka and junior Wendy Hall qualified to perform after being nominated at the National Cheerleading Association Superstar Dance last summer at UMBC.

The duo will take part in the parade and will entertain dignitaries at the Lord Mayor's Ball that evening.

"I love to perform and am looking forward to the opportunity of performing in front of a large audience," said Hall, 16. "It's exciting."

Hlavinka, 17, was nominated and could have attended the event last year, but said she didn't want to make the trip alone.

"I've wanted to do this since I was a freshman, but I never had anyone to go with," Hlavinka said. "Butthis year, with Kelly going, too, it should be fun."
