Release the names?

It's your call

March 12, 1992

The House of Representives' Ethics Committee voted last week to disclose the names of the worst offenders who have bounced checks at the House bank.

The worst were considered to be 19 current and five former House members who bounced checks over a 39-month period ending last October. The top check-kiter wrote about 900 hot checks.

The House Republican Conference wants to go further and is pushing a resolution to reveal the names of all 296 members who bounced at least one check.

The Evening Sun would like to know what you think. Should the names of only the worst offenders be disclosed? Should the names of all those who bounced checks be released?

To register your opinion, call SUNDIAL at 783-1800 (or 268-7736 in Anne Arundel County) today through midnight. After you hear the greeting, you'll be asked to punch in a four-digit code on your touch-tone phone. Punch 4600 and you'll be connected with "It's Your Call," The Evening Sun's phone survey on topical issues.

Look for the results in tomorrow's Evening Sun.
