It's your call

March 09, 1992

If "It's Your Call" respondents controlled the Orioles' purse strings, Cal Ripken would become the highest paid player in baseball.

Sixty-one percent (378) of the 624 respondents said Ripken should make more than the $7 million a year Cubs second baseman Ryne Sandberg recently signed for, becoming baseball's highest-paid player. Nineteen percent (119) said Ripken should make the paltry sum of $5 million a year, with 7 percent (46) saying the Orioles shortstop should sign for $6 million a year and 13 percent (81) saying he should be paid $7 million a year.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
