William E. Lee, son of Kenneth and Margaret Lee of Mount Airy, has been promoted in the Army to the rank of private first class.

The soldier is a cannon crewman at Camp Pelham, Munsan-Up, South Korea.

KIM COMPLETES COURSE

2nd Lt. Kenneth S. Kim, son of Joon and Hwa Kim of Ellicott City,

completed an air defense artillery officer course at Fort Bliss, Texas.

The course provided training in the operation and tactics of the Army's air defense weapons systems, including nuclear weapons and communications, supply and maintenance procedures and air defense field exercises.

MARINE COMPLETES TRAINING

Marine Pvt. Thomas J. Krywucki, son of Thomas Krywucki of

Laurel, completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C.

He joined the Marine Corps in October 1991.

OFFICER REPORTS FOR DUTY

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ian G. Crumbley reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy, homeported in Norfolk, Va.

He is the son of Grover and Ann Crumbley of Ellicott City.

NAVY RECRUIT REPORTS

Navy Seaman Recruit Jenifer M. Landes, daughter of Gary and Estelle Landes of Ellicott City, reported for duty at Navy Security Group Activity in Arkansas.

The 1990 graduate of Mount Hebron High School joined the Navy in June 1991.

COMMANDER IS DEPLOYED

Coast Guard Cmdr. Walter E. Hanson, son of Walter and Cordelia Hanson of Elkridge, departed on a two-month deployment aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Mellon, homeported in Seattle.

The 1974 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy will conduct patrol operations in the vicinity of the Hawaiian Islands.

GLENELG GRAD IS MARINE

Marine Pvt. Paul D. Miller, son of Margaret and Lee Miller of Glenelg completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C.

Miller is a 1991 graduate of Glenelg High School.

SPECIALIST IN ORIENT

Spec. Steven G. Coss, son of Herbert and Connie Coss of Ellicott City, recently participated in "Orient Shield '92," a combined exercise with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces that took place onthe Japanese island of Kyushu.

Coss is a 1981 graduate of GlenelgHigh School.

CADET ON DEAN'S LIST

Cadet Benjamin C. Both, son of Daniel and Patricia Both of Ellicott City, was placed on the Dean's List for academic excellence at the U.S.

Air Force Academy.

The cadet is a 1991 graduate of Centennial High School.

AIRMAN REPORTS FOR DUTY

Air Force Senior Airman Edward L. Rollyson, son of Bertha E. Duvall of Ellicott City, has arrived for duty at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Va.

SGT. EARNS HER DEGREE

Sgt. Cynthia L. Morgan, daughter of Curtis A. Walker Jr., has earned an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.

Morgan is a cryptologic linguist at Kadena Air Base, Japan.

MARINE IN MEDITERRANEAN

Marine Lance Cpl. Dale A. LaRue, son of Raymond and Linda LaRue of Mount Airy, was deployed to the Mediterranean along with the 24th Expeditionary Unit for a six-month assignment.

LaRue is a1989 graduate of South Carroll High School.
