Baltimore City

ASSAULT: Northern District -- A resident of the 4400 block of Old York Road reported she was at home last evening when her estranged husband broke into the house. During an argument in the basement, police said, the man threatened her with an ax. Police said the woman wrestled the ax from the man, who then pulled out a knife. Police said the woman's screams alerted a neighbor, who entered the house, and the husband fled. Police said the woman was not injured and was advised to seek a warrant for the man's arrest.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone entered Kid City, a clothing store in the 2800 block of Greenmount Ave., yesterday evening and stole three child-size sweat suits valued at more than $100.

THEFT: Northern District -- Employees of the Gap store in the 500 block of E. Belvedere Ave. reported that a couple entered the business shortly before 2 p.m. yesterday and left moments later with four pairs of pants without paying for them. Police said the pants were valued at nearly $360.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 3500 block of Ash St. reported that someone broke into her home yesterday afternoon after removing a lock from a door and stole a TV, tools and cash, valued at more than $400. Police said a person known to the occupants is suspected of stealing the property.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Employees of L&H Hardware in the 5400 block of York Road said a man entered the store shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday and forced them to give up less than $100 from the cash register while implying he had a handgun.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Property valued at more than $1,000 was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 1000 block of Woodson Road after someone got in by forcing the basement door. Police said the intruder escaped with a TV and a VCR.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A man with a handgun robbed the Mail Packaging Depot in the 400 block of E. Belvedere Ave. yesterday morning of an undisclosed sum. The gunman, police said, entered the business shortly before 10 a.m., demanded money from the cash register while pointing the gun at an employee and then fled.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- The owner of a house in the 2600 block of Keyworth Ave. reported that someone broke into the dwelling between Friday and yesterday and stole a toilet and a sink of unknown value.

THEFT: Northern District -- A man who left his car parked in the 1300 block of W. Cold Spring Lane over the weekend said someone removed the vehicle's wheel covers, which were valued at more than $200.

THEFT: Northern District -- A cellular telephone was reported stolen yesterday from a car parked in the 4300 block of Rugby Road. The owner of the car, who is a resident of Rugby Road, told police entry was gained by breaking a window. Police said

the combined cost of the telephone and replacing the window was more than $1,000.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A 16-year-old reported he was in the 5500 block of Ivanhoe Ave. early Sunday evening when he was assaulted by an older youth who robbed him of a bracelet valued at more than $100.

ROBBERY/SHOOTING: Southwestern District -- Kevin Wallace was treated at Bon Secours Hospital after he was shot during a robbery in the 1200 block of Bloomingdale Road. Police said Mr. Wallace was accosted by an armed man around 2:30 a.m. yesterday and robbed of cash and property, all valued at more than $100. Police said the gunman then shot Wallace in the left arm before fleeing.

SHOOTING: Southwestern District -- A man walking in the 2100 block of Hollins St. Sunday afternoon was stopped by a man with a handgun who shot him in the leg. Police said the victim, Michael Boyd, was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where he was treated and released. Mr. Boyd told police he knew of no reason why the man would shoot him.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A woman walking in the first block of S. Hilton St. yesterday was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her purse, which contained cash and property valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the 2300 block of Hollins St. over the weekend by forcing a side door and stole property valued at more than $2,000.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4900 block of Goodnow Road reported that someone entered her apartment yesterday after breaking a kitchen window and stole $200 from a dining room table.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Jewelry valued at nearly $300 was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 6500 block of Pioneer Drive yesterday after someone got in with a key.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- The owner of Gibson's Beauty & Barber Hair Stylist in the 5600 block of Bowleys Lane reported that someone entered the business yesterday and stole a TV, cash and a safe. Police said the property was valued at more than $1,000 and that entry appeared to have been with a key.
