Berl Bernhard has been elected to the Board of Directors of UNC Inc., the Annapolis-based aviation company.
Bernhard is chairman of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand, Attorneys at Law, a firm with offices in Washington, Northern Virginia, and Houston.
He is also chairman of the Aspen Institute; trustee and member ofthe executive committee of the Federal City Council and director of Uniroyal Chemical Co.
UNC Inc. is engaged in manufacturing and remanufacturing jet engine and aircraft components and the overhaul of aircraft accessories and engines. UNC also provides aircraft maintenance and pilot training services.
MCCLURE IS SECRETARY
Carrol's Creek restaurant's general manager Richard McClure has been elected secretary of the Maryland Restaurant Association.
The restaurant has been a member of the association since its opening in 1983, and McClurehas served on the group's board since 1986.
Active in the growth of the restaurant association, especially in spearheading its membership development program, McClure has seen the membership grow from 250 to over 1,700 restaurants.
McClure is a recent recipient of the Food Management Professional Certificate from the National RestaurantAssociation, the highest professional credential in the organization.
WHITMORE PRINTING IN NEWS
Annapolis' Whitmore Printing has hireda new manager and had two employees in the news.
Whitmore Printing has announced the addition of Claire Purnell as the manager of its newly formed Digital division.
Purnell, an expert in desktop publishing, will handle high-quality imaging from computer files.
Purnell, a previous graphic design supervisor, worked for the Federated Investors corporation based in Pittsburgh.
William J. Creighton Jr.,vice president for sales/marketing for company, was recently highlighted in Printing Impressions magazine for an article titled "How to Hold a Seminar."
The article was an industry guide to seminars. Creighton is a former educator and has spent 15 years in the printing industry developing educational programs.
George C. Shenk Jr. was recently appointed as chairman of the Printing Industry of American Financial Ratios Committee. Shenk, president of Whitmore Printing, has served on the committee for the past four years and assumes the two-year chairmanship.
The committee reviews industry standards in finance and costs for over 60,000 printers across the nation.
Boender Associates Inc. has recently welcomed Stuart K. Wiesenberger, P.E., as vice president of the Ellicott City-based engineering, planning and surveying firm which has served on numerous projects in Northern Anne Arundel County.
Wiesenberger brings over 20years of experience in the civil engineering field to his new position at Boender Associates. His experience includes design, planning, construction supervision and project management.
His expertise ranges from simple to complex projects encompassing the areas of residential and commercial land development, transportation, water and sewer,storm drainage and storm-water management.
Wiesenberger, a registered professional engineer in six states, holds a master of business administration degree.
