WASHINGTON -- Milan Brown scored 17 points and Julius McNeil added 15 to lead Howard University (13-13, 11-4) to an 82-64 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Morgan State (4-22, 4-11) last night.
The win assured the Bison of at least a share of first place in conference play with an 11-4 record. Howard entered the game tied for first place with Florida A&M.
Morgan kept the game close throughout most of the first half, scoring 11 of its 15 first-half field goals on layups. Then Howard went on a 15-4 run in the last five minutes of the half for a 45-28 cushion.
Howard put the game away with a 17-6 run in the opening seven minutes of the second half, including nine points by McNeil. Morgan State cut the Bison lead to 70-59 with 3:42 remaining on Michael Brewer's 8-footer but never got closer.
