Cabbie found slain after taxi crashes near Hillendale

February 22, 1992

A taxicab driver was found shot to death last night after his car crashed into an apartment building in the Tall Oaks complex near Hillendale in Baltimore County.

The driver, whose identity could not be immediately confirmed, was found dead about 9:30 p.m. behind the 6600 block of English Oak Road in the Parkside Heights neighborhood, said E. Jay Miller, a spokesman for the county police.

The back of the Checker cab was heavily damaged when the vehicle jumped a curb, crossed a grassy area and slammed against a building.

The driver, found lying near the cab in a grassy area between a parking lot and the building, was shot in the back of the head, and appeared to have been dragged from the vehicle and robbed after the crash, Mr. Miller said.
