CORAOPOLIS, PA. RJB — CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- For Mount St. Mary's head coach Jim Phelan, last night's 98-91 Northeast Conference overtime loss at Robert Morris was all too typical of his team's season.
For the second straight game, the Mountaineers (6-20, 3-12) lost a sizable lead late in regulation and then saw the game slip away in overtime. It was the team's 17th straight road loss dating to last year.
The Mount led, 80-72, after Jeff Hall hit a short jump shot with 3:56 to play. The Colonials (15-10, 11-3) scored the next five points and got within 80-77 on a pair of free throws by Myron Walker with 2:46 to go. Freshman Michael Watson, who finished with a career-high 28 points for the Mountaineers, pushed the advantage back to five with a baseline drive with 2:30 to play.
