Top-seeded Allegany Community College will seek its eighth straight Maryland Junior College championship in the 12-team tournament at Hagerstown that begins tomorrow and concludes Sunday.

Allegany, which has been to the national junior-college tournament five of the past seven years, is 28-2 overall. Its only losses came at Vincennes, the Indiana power that includes former Lake Clifton star Ron Lucas, and at the New Community College of Baltimore in December.

Coach Bob Kirk has just one sophomore, 6-7 center Reggie Waddy, in his starting lineup. The Trojans won the state's American Division for the 12th straight time.

Baltimore, the division runner-up, is seeded third with a 19-4 record that has been fueled by sophomores Brian Brooks (Southwestern High), Darrick Purnell (Carver) and Warren Wright (Northwestern). All are averaging more than 20 points a game.

Allegany and Baltimore will receive byes, as will the top two teams in the National Division, Howard and Montgomery-Germantown.
