Load Up At The Table, Then Work It Off On The Dance Floor

Forget the diet and don't waste time grocery shopping when you can eat out all weekend long -- the dinners abound and you can work off the pounds dancing. Start with the Rotary Club of Hampstead's 12th annual all-you-can-eat Benefit Breakfast 6 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hampstead Fire Hall on Main Street. Tickets are $3.50 in advance or $4 at the door, with children 7 and under free. Proceeds will benefit thefire department, Ladies Auxiliary and Rotary International.

If you're close to the area, go back to the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department for its top 40 dance with "Cry Monday" 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $8 per person and include set-ups.

For the politically minded, the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee and the Carroll County DemocraticClub are having their annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner/dance 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at Frock's Sunnybrook Farm on Bond Street, Westminster.

Meet representatives from the presidential candidates, dine and dance to the sounds of "Just for Fun." Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door.

Or you can trythe Knights of Columbus Westminster Council 1393's shrimp feast and dance 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Westminster Riding Club, featuring steamed shrimp, a full buffet and music by WTTR radio DJ Jack Edwards.

The Italians are at it again at Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, where a spaghetti dinner is being served 4-7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The meal includes spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad with dressings, French bread, dessert and beverage for $4.50 for adultsand $2.50 for youngsters 5-12.

The church is on Route 140 at Royer Road, Westminster.

The South Carroll area is active as well, starting with the Optimist Club of Freedom District's bull and oyster roast at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sykesville-Freedom fire hall, Route 32 and Freedom Avenue.

Dine on foodcatered by Millrace Tavern until 10:30 p.m., then dance to the sounds of "Spring." Tickets are $20 per person, withproceeds going to the club's many community projects.

The Four County Square Dance Club is sponsoring a President's Dance 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at South Carroll High School, 1300 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

Tired after a week's hard work? Start the weekend binge early at the fourth annual spaghetti dinner sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 883 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Liberty Road near Freedom Avenue, Eldersburg.

Besides dinner, enjoy musical entertainment and an auction. Meal tickets are $5 for adults, $3.75 for children 4-11, and free under 4.
