Cutting 10,000 trees

It's your call

February 19, 1992

Of 635 callers to SUNDIAL, 433 (68 percent) say they are against the cutting of 10,000 trees at Loch Raven Reservoir, as the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. plans to do for a transmission line. Disagreeing, 202 callers (31 percent) say the trees should be cut.

Seventy-two percent of the callers (462 of 636) say ecologists' concerns about the tree-clearing are warranted, while 174 (27 percent) say such concerns are not warranted.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as a scientific public opinion poll would be.
