Baseball St. Louis Cardinals -- Agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract with P Bob Tewksbury (11-12, 3.25 ERA). Tewksbury, who made $185,000 last season, had sought $975,000 in arbitration; the club had offered $625,000.

Pioneer League -- Rookie league announced that the Lethbridge (Alberta) Mounties would replace the Pocatello (Idaho) Pioneers. Lethbridge will be a co-op team, as Pocatello was.

Charlotte Hornets -- Signed G Cedric Hunter to a 10-day contract.
