Army National Guard Pvt. William J. Kerr Jr. has graduated from a helicopter repairer course at Fort Eustis, Newport News, Va.

He is the son of Ann P. Kerr of Edgewood and William J. Kerr Sr. of Joppa.

LAHART EARNS MEDAL

Airman 1st Class John C. LaHart has been decorated with the Air Force Achievement Medal.

The medal is awarded to airmen for meritorious acts of cour

age or other outstanding accomplishments.

He is a fire protection specialist at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, N.Y. LaHart is the son of John F. and Donna M. LaHart of Abingdon.

BOWMAN PROMOTED

Ronald T. Bowman has been promoted in the U.S. Army to the rank of private first class.

The soldier is a cannon crewman at Camp Pelham, Munsan-Up, South Korea.

Bowman is the son of Jimmy L. Bowman and Sheryl A. Hargrove, both of Aberdeen.

He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1990.

TALLETT LEARNS PHONE REPAIR

ArmyNational Guard Pvt. William J. Tallett Jr. has graduated from the telephone central office repairer course at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Ga.

He is the son of William J. and Kathy Tallett of Abingdon.

The private is a 1991 graduate of Bel Air High School.

MCCARTIN ARRIVES FOR DUTY

Army Pvt. Robert W. McCartin, a cannon crewman, has arrivedfor duty at Camp Casey, Tongduchon-Up, South Korea.

McCartin is the son of William L. McCartin of Aurora, Colo., and Susan C. Young ofBel Air.

MCBURNEY JOINS ARMY

Michael G. McBurney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Graham McBurney, of Baltimore, has joined the Army for five years.

McBurney is a 1990 graduate of Joppatowne High School and attended Howard Community College. He will report to Fort Jackson for basic training in May. After basic, McBurney will be sent to Fort Houstonfor training in patient administration.

RILEY RETURNS TO MAYPORT

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Joseph P. Riley, son of Joseph P. Riley Jr. of Darlington, recently returned to Mayport, Fla., aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal following a seven-month deployment to theMediterranean and the Red Sea.

Riley deployed with the 10-ship battle group while they conducted operations, and provided support for the Kurdish relief effort.

The Forrestal assisted in President Bush's visit to Greece and Souda Bay, Crete, in July. Before leaving theMediterranean, Riley also participated in several multinational training exercises with Spain, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Greece, France, Great Britain and the Netherlands.

The 1976 graduate of Bel Air HighSchool joined the Navy in November 1987.

CLARK COMPLETES COURSE

Army National Guard Pvt. Steven C. Clark has completed a small arms repairer course at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

He is the son of Carol A. Baxter of Bel Air. The private is a 1991 graduate of Bel Air High School.

HOWARD REPORTS FOR DUTY

Marine Lance Cpl. Ronald Howard, son of Beatrice Howard of Aberdeen, recently reported for duty with Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, Santa Ana, Calif. The 1986 graduate of Aberdeen High School joined the Marine Corps in May 1988.

PICKETT COMPLETES TRAINING

Marine Pvt.Jackie W. Pickett, son of Shari B. Baldwin of Joppatowne, recently completed recruit training.

During the training cycle at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., he was taught the basics of battlefield survival and introduced to military routine.

He is a 1991 graduate of Joppatowne High School.
