Baltimore City

ROBBERY: Southern District -- Police said a resident of the 1300 block of Hull St. was walking in the 1000 block of Hanover St. early yesterday when she was stopped by a man armed with an unknown caliber handgun who pointed the weapon at her face and ordered her to give up her money. Police said the woman gave $12 to the gunman, who escaped on foot.

BURGLARY: Southern District -- CSX Railroad police reported that someone broke into a company office in the 4700 block of Hollins Ferry Road over the weekend and stole two walkie-talkie radios. Police said the communications equipment was valued at more than $3,600.

BURGLARY: Southern District -- A resident of the 800 block of Williams St. reported that someone broke into his home last week and stole property valued at nearly $1,700. The victim told police the intruder escaped with a 35mm camera, a ring, coins and other personal items.

BANK ROBBERY: Southern District -- Police said a man robbed the Maryland National Bank in the 2100 block of W. Patapsco Ave. yesterday after giving a teller a note demanding money. After entering the bank around 10 a.m., the man gave a note to one of several tellers and fled moments later with an undisclosed sum. Police said no weapon was displayed during the robbery. Police investigating the robbery today were to continue examining a video tape of the robbery in an effort to identify the man.

THEFT: Southern District -- Police reported that someone stole a parking meter from its post in the 1100 block of Hollins St. The meter, valued at nearly $400, was reported stolen yesterday and had an unknown amount of coins inside it.

THEFT: Southern District -- A resident of the 3500 block of Horton Ave. told police that upon returning home Friday, he discovered that his VCR, tools and a checkbook were missing. The victim told police the property was valued at nearly $700 and that he suspects the property was stolen by a man who was visiting him.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of ABC Rental in the 6500 block of Frankford Ave. reported that someone entered the rear storage lot over the weekend and stole a cement mixer. Police said the equipment was valued at more than $1,000.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5600 block of Sinclair Lane reported that someone broke into her apartment over the weekend and stole a bedroom set. Police said entry was gained through an unlocked ground-level window.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone removed equipment valued at more than $400 from a Datsun 300ZX while the vehicle was parked in the first block of E. Bishops Road. Police said the theft occurred over the weekend.

THEFT/ARREST: Northern District -- Police yesterday arrested a man and charged him with stealing several feet of copper downspouting from the side of a house in the 3900 block of Greenway. Police said the man was arrested after a resident of the house saw him removing the downspouting. Police said John Andrew-Bey Harris, 40, of the 2500 block of Madison Ave., was charged with theft and ordered held overnight at the station in lieu of $3,500 bond. Police said the suspect was being investigated in connection with several recent thefts of copper downspouting from other homes in the police district.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 5200 block of Alhambra Ave. reported that someone entered his home yesterday afternoon and stole his refrigerator. The victim told police the appliance was valued at $500. Police said it appeared that more than one person stole the refrigerator.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 3800 block of Roland Ave. yesterday and stole a portable compact disc player. Police said the property was valued at $200.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Officials at Johns Hopkins University in the 3400 block of N. Charles St. told police that sometime between the Christmas-New Year break and yesterday someone stole a large quantity of carpeting from at least one room in a building on campus. Police said the carpeting was valued at $5,000.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police said property valued at more than $300 was stolen from a dwelling in the 3000 block of N. Calvert St. after someone gained entry by forcing the front door. Police said the intruder escaped with a VCR and a cable-TV control device.

THEFT: Northern District -- A student at Johns Hopkins University in the 3400 block of N. Charles St. told police he was exercising in the school's athletic building yesterday evening when someone broke into his locker and stole his jacket, shirt and blue jeans. The student told police the clothing was valued at $100.
