Sharing blessings

February 10, 1992

More than 300 social service agencies in Baltimore and surrounding counties have become so dependent on funding from the United Way that each year's campaign is a cause for anxiety.

This year presented a particularly difficult situation because of the lingering recession. Yet tens of thousands of Marylanders have once again shared their blessings. Their generosity helped the United Way to raise $39 million, a new record, enabling the organization to secure the continuation of many worthwhile programs at a time of great and increasing needs.

Because of lay-offs in many companies, some people who once gave to the United Way are now receiving aid. They and their employed friends all know this charity drive is needed.
