Here's what to look for if you're traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
New highway projects
I-95 north -- Northbound roadway from the Baltimore Beltway to White Marsh Boulevard, single-lane closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The southbound roadway from White Marsh Boulevard to the Beltway will have single-lane closings from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow through Friday from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Speed limit is 45 mph. Watch for various closings northbound and southbound from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving and construction work.
I-95 at I-895 split -- Replacement of the southbound I-95 approach span over Kane Street, and replacement of the roadway from southbound I-95/I-895 to the bridge over I-895. During reconstruction, the roadway portion from the I-95/I-895 split to the bridge will be reduced to two lanes with occasional shifts. On the approach span, two lanes of traffic will be maintained through the construction zone. Occasional closures are scheduled at the southbound access ramps from Eastern Avenue and Kane Street. Project is scheduled for completion in December.
I-83 over Timonium Road -- Today from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. the two right lanes of southbound I-83 over Timonium Road will be closed for bridge deck repairs.
Lombard Street Bridge over Conrail Railroad -- Will reopen to traffic tomorrow following the morning rush hour. The bridge is bounded by Ponca Street on the east and Kresson Street on the west. The bridge has been closed for repairs since August 1990.
