The county wrestling tournament is Saturday afternoon at Liberty, butfirst things first.

The county dual-meet title will be up for grabs tonight when Francis Scott Key plays host to North Carroll.

Key enters tonight's match unbeaten this season at 8-0-1. North Carroll is 10-1,with the only loss at the hands of Old Mill of Anne Arundel County, the top-ranked team in The Baltimore Sun poll. Both are 3-0 in the county.

North Carroll is ranked third in the most recent poll, while Francis Scott Key has jumped to 10th.

"They will bothbe very tough battles," North Carroll coach Dick Bauerlein said.

"Francis Scott Key has a solid team all the way up. You'll see a goodmatch. It's tough to figure the county tournament right now without seeing the matchups, but it should be much the same."

The last timethese two teams met at Key in 1990,the Eagles upset North Carroll tosnap the Panthers' 48-match win streak and clinch the county title.

"We had a senior-dominated team that year, which is not the case this year," Francis Scott Key coach Bill Hyson said.

"About the onlysimilarity is that we both came in unbeaten and wrestling for the county title -- that's about where it ends.

"There is respect on both sides. We know how hard they work, and we're hoping we closed the gap enough to have a competitive match."

The county tournament features some interesting possible matchups in the different weight classes. (Final pairings will be set later this week.)

The 112-pound class has four wrestlers with winning records. Key's Steve Lessard owns a 12-4 mark with South Carroll's Jeff Irvine (14-6),North Carroll's Bobby Schech (10-6)and Liberty's Tim Stuple's (9-7-2)not far behind.

At 130,the Panthers Andy Rill (16-1)and Eagles Zac Yinger (12-1)should get to know each other pretty well by week's end.

Rill comes into tonight's match with a 16-1 record while Yinger is 12-1.
