Sister Mary Denise Blocker, O.S.P., who retired as an elementary school teacher in 1971, died Saturday of cancer in the infirmary of Our Lady of Mount Providence Convent. She was 75.
Sister Denise had lived at the convent -- the motherhouse of the Oblate Sisters of Providence -- since her retirement.
A Mass of Christian burial for Sister Denise will be offered at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in the convent's chapel, 701 Gun Road in Halethorpe.
She entered the order of sisters in 1941. She was on the faculty of St. Pius V School in Baltimore in 1956 and 1957 and from 1964 to 1969, and at St. Francis Xavier School in Baltimore from 1962 to 1964.
