Regional Building to supply Navy homes

January 31, 1992

Regional Building Systems has been awarded a $43 million contract to build 1,000 modular homes for the Navy on Staten Island in New York City.

The modular houses will be manufactured at the company's plants in North East and in Fredericksburg, Va.

The contract calls for Regional Building Systems to make the houses and assemble them at the Navy base.

The buildings will be 90 percent complete when they arrive for placement on foundations at the site.

Keith Sholos, a spokesman for Regional Building, said the company will produce about 60 homes a month for the project.

Production will begin in late February, and deliveries should begin in March.

The homes will be owned by New York-based Aspen Knolls Corp., which will lease them to the Navy. The president of Aspen Knolls, Robert Mazzuoccola, said Regional Building was chosen because it could produce a large number of units quickly.
