Chicago White Sox -- Invited C Nelson Santovenia, C Clemente Alvarez, C Darrin Campbell, C Rogelio Nunez, IF Chris Cron, IF Joe Hall, IF Ever Magallanes, IF Mike Robertson, former Baltimore Orioles OF Brad Komminsk, OF Shawn Jeter, P Mike Dunne and P Rodney Bolton to spring training as non-roster players.

Colorado Rockies -- Named former major-league P Jim McAndrew part-time scout.

Detroit Tigers -- Agreed to terms with free-agent P Eric King (6-11, 4.60 with the Cleveland Indians last season) on a $1.2 million, one-year contract.

New York Yankees -- Agreed to terms with free-agent P Allan Anderson (5-11, 4.96 ERA) on a contract with Class AAA Columbus.

Seattle Mariners -- Japanese-led investors group formally presented the club with its $100 million proposal to buy the team. The Mariners said they will forward the proposal to the commissioner's office and baseball's ownership committee, which is made up of league presidents and eight owners.

Basketball

NBA -- Named Atlanta Hawks F Kevin Willis to replace injured F Dominique Wilkins on the All-Star team.

Boston Celtics -- Waived F Tony Massenburg (Maryland).

Dallas Mavericks -- Suspended backup C James Donaldson for last night's game against the San Antonio Spurs after Donaldson's scuffle with G Derek Harper in practice Tuesday. G Fat Lever will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee and miss the rest of the season.

Portland Trail Blazers -- Placed G Lamont Strothers on injured list. Activated G Ennis Whatley from injured list.

CBA -- Suspended Albany Patroons F Ken Bannister (Southwestern High) for failure to abide by the league's substance-abuse policy.

Calgary Flames -- Signed C Joe Nieuwendyk to a three-year contract.

New Jersey Devils -- Announced they are changing the green in their uniforms and logo to black next season. Red and white will remain part of the color scheme.

OC St. Louis Blues -- Recalled D Jason Marshall from Peoria (IHL).
