Armco Inc.

The parent of Baltimore Specialty Steels Corp., reported a loss of $241.5 million, or $2.75 a share, in last year's fourth quarter, increasing its total 1991 loss to $336.5 million, or $3.89 a share.

About $2.7 million of the quarterly loss stemmed from a reduction in the company's Baltimore operation. During the last year, the company laid off about 250 workers, spokesman Jim Herzog said.

Armco has been trying to sell Baltimore Specialty Steels for about 18 months and is "still working with Baltimore management and the unions," he said.
