Area code

It's your call

January 29, 1992

Last Nov. 1, the eastern half of Maryland switched from the 301 area code to 410. Next Nov. 1, the phone company will stop putting through calls that don't use the correct 410 area code. Recent Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. statistics show that 38 percent of all calls within Maryland are being dialed using the correct area codes. C&P is issuing constant reminders about the changeover but monthly bills and Bell Atlantic's new calling cards still have the old 301 area code.

The Evening Sun would like to hear whether you are using the new area code or whether you plan to wait until Nov. 1.

To register your opinion, call SUNDIAL at 783-1800 (or 268-7736 in Anne Arundel County) today through midnight. After you hear the greeting, you'll be asked to punch in a four-digit code on your touch-tone phone. Punch 4600 and you'll be connected with "It's Your Call," The Evening Sun's phone survey on topical issues.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.

Look for the results in Thursday's Evening Sun.
