Kickers In Mexico

John Carroll's Eddie Maynard was named to the All-Tournament Team and Fallston's Shane Dougherty led the team in scoring as the BaltimoreKickers (1975) finished second in their age group in a Christmas soccer tournament in Mexico.

Goalie Maynard led the defense while Dougherty scored 11 goals as the team finished 5-2 in the tournament Dec. 26-31.

Rob D'Angelo, Marc Riedlbauer and Tom Sabia, of Fallston High, also played for the Kickers along with Todd Perkins, of Calvert Hall. Fallston High assistant Tony Riedlbauer coached the team.

Of six teams in their age group, the Kickers were the only United States team to reach the finals. Both of their losses came to the Mexican junior national team. In the first meeting, the Mexican team needed a shootout to beat the Kickers, but in the finals, the Mexican team won, 7-2.
