Marine Cpl. Robert A. Lane, son of Lionel and Barbara Lane of Fallston, was promoted to his present rank while serving with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
He is a 1987 graduate of North Harford High School.
THOMPSON ON CARRIER
Navy Airman Daniel H. Thompson, son of Debra and Daniel Thompson Jr. of Joppatowne, is in the Persian Gulf aboard the aircraft carrierUSS Dwight D. Eisenhower and is midway through a six-month deployment.
In November, Thompson participated in exercise "Eager Mace," a 10-day, joint amphibious landing exercise in Kuwait.
The operationis designed to help increase the readiness of combined forces in theMiddle East.
USS Eisenhower and its crew continued training with excerise "Sandstorm" with the U.S. Air Force.
This exercise included simulated air strikes and tested the carrier's ability to retaliate against air attacks.
Thompson recently visited the city of Dubaiin the United Arab Emirates.
The 1989 graduate of Joppatowne HighSchool joined the Navy in May 1991.
ENLOW ENDS TRAINING
Navy Seaman Recruit Darren C. Enlow, son of Harry C. and Linda S. Enlow of Abingdon, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command,Great Lakes, Ill.
During the cycle, recruits are taught general military subjects designed to prepare them for futher academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 occupational fields.
Studies include seamanship, close-order-drill, naval history and first aid.
The 1990 graduate of Bel Air High School joined the Navy in September 1991.
