Lyric show features gospel music
"Joshua Fit De Battle of Jericho," "Jezebel" and other traditional gospel songs will be featured in "Golden Gate," a musical celebration at the Lyric Opera House Tuesday through Sunday. The show is directed and choreographed by George Faison, who won a Tony Award for his work on "The Wiz."
Evening performances are at 8 p.m. and 7:30 p.m Sunday. Matinees are at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $23.50 and $15 for Tuesday evening; $23.50, 21.50 and $12.50 for Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday matinees; $26.50, $23.50 and $14.50 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and Sunday matinees. Sparti, will present a free concert today at 3 p.m. at Turner Auditorium, 1734 East Monument St. They will perform Schubert's Mass in E-Flat and Mozart's Overture to The Marriage of Figaro.
