Susan P. Leviton, professor at the University of Maryland School of Law, has been awarded the 1991 Child Advocacy Award of the Maryland Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics, for her work involving children's rights.

In New Community College of Baltimore news, advancement administrator Sue Carnell was awarded a United Way Achievement Certificate for organizing a successful fund-raising campaign. Paula Thrasher, part-time physiology/botany professor, has been awarded the part-time faculty Employee Excellence Award.

John P. Carter, pastor of the Eastern United Methodist Church, was presented with a mayoral salutation in December for his community leadership and dedication to assisting youth and those in need.

Dr. Rosetta Stith, principal of the Laurence G. Paquin Middle/Senior High School No. 457, was recently awarded the 1992 Howard L. Cornish Humanitarian Award from Morgan State University Alumni Association for her outstanding work with expectant teen-age mothers and their children.

Jennifer Danek of Crofton was named to the Provosts' Honors List for the sixth straight quarter at the University of California-San Diego.

Joyce Harps of Ellicott City has been chosen to receive the St. Agnes Hospital 1991 Vincentian Spirit Award of the Year, which recognizes employees who exemplify St. Agnes' values and tradition of caring. She is a clinical specialist at the hospital.
