* "Fried Green Tomatoes" is a multi-generational story of Southern Women with Cute Names. Miss Ninnie Threadgood, in her nursing home outside Birmingham in the 90s, tells a visitor about her distant relative Idgie Threadgood back in the 30s. It's part mystery story, part feminist anthem, part down-home celebration of simpler times. The case includes Jessica Tandy as the luminous Ninnie, Mary Stuart Masterson as Idgie, and Oscar winner Kathy Bates as Evelyn. PG-13.

* "Love Crimes" features Sean Young as a district attorney who uses herself as bait to capture serial rapist Patrick Bergin. The movie was not screened for critics. R-rated.
