Swimwear splashes toward resort season in all styles, sizes

SUIT YOURSELF

January 23, 1992|By Susanne Trowbridge

Lands' End carries basic tanks as well as two-pieces and skirted styles. Many suits are available with a shelf bra or soft cups, and for a long or regular torso. "Through fit testing and wear testing from actual employees and customers, we've developed what we feel is a great-fitting swimsuit for almost anybody," says Ms. Casper. A size chart in the catalog and assistance from Lands' End operators help ensure that you wind up with the right fit.

For larger women, who often have a great deal of difficulty finding attractive swimwear, fashionable styles are no longer off-limits, according to Cookie Rosenberg of the We Fit Shop. "I've heard a lot of women say, 'Oh, it's gorgeous, but they never make it in my size,' " says Ms. Rosenberg. "I think the world is finally realizing that not everybody is a size 6, 8 or 10. We carry a lot of large size suits, all the way up to 46. They're making them a little nicer, in brighter colors, a little younger-looking. Just because you're heavy, you don't have to look old."
