Glen Burnie Man Charged In Burglaries

Howard County police arrested and charged a Glen Burnie man in the burglaries of two Savage homes and related crimes.

Leonard Joseph Maus Jr., of the 6400 block of Mount Vernon Lane in Glen Burnie, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, one count of felony theft and one count of being a "rogue and vagabond," according to county police.

County police responded just after midnight Saturday to the 8800 block of Baltimore Street in Savage after receiving a call about a burglary. Another call, about a possible burglary in progress, was placed from the same block at 1:31 a.m.

After a short patrol on foot, police found a suspect at the window of the second house with a knife, gloves and flashlight, police said.

Maus, initially charged withbeing a rogue and vagabond, was charged with several other crimes after a brief search uncovered jewelry from the first house and a watchthat was reported stolen Jan. 12 from the 8400 block of Savage Guilford Road, police said.

Police said they also are investigating thesuspect's possible involvement in two other burglaries in the countysince the beginning of the year.

Maus remained in the Howard County Detention Center yesterday with bond set at $225,000.

9000 block Mendenhall Court: Someone stole two computers and two printers from an office occupied by G.C. Industries. The break-in apparently occurred sometime last weekend.

6100 block Devon Drive: Several pieces ofstereo equipment were stolen sometime before 8 p.m. Sunday from a home entered through a basement window.

6600 block Seneca Drive: A bicycle was stolen sometime overnight Tuesday from a garage entered through an unlocked door.

6000 block Watch Chain Way: Someone pried open a kitchen window of a home, breaking the glass, and kicked in a basement window, bending its frame. Nothing was taken.

1090 block Rock Coast Road: A television and VCR were taken before 9 a.m. Thursday from a home broken into through a large window.

Elkridge

6300 block South Hanover Road: A 1990 blue Ford farm tractor was stolen from a commercial area before noon Jan. 15.

7151 Brookdale Drive: A 1991 black GMC Cyclone truck was reported stolen at 4 p.m. Friday from a commercial area.

Ellicott City

11600 block Vixen's Path: Jewelry was reported stolen at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 10 from a home entered by someone who kicked open a kitchen door.

4100 block St. John's Lane: A 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that had been stolen from Montgomery County was discovered in a parking lot at 12 p.m. Tuesday. Thevehicle had only minor damage.

10040 U.S. 40: A yellow "Bob Cat" was taken from the construction project at the former Enchanted Forest.

Jessup

8800 block of U.S. 1: A 1986 Ford Ranger was reportedstolen at 12:05 p.m. Monday from a gas station parking lot while theowner was inside the building. The keys had been left in the vehicle.

Laurel

9500 block of Sylvan Still Road: A 1987 Hyundai Excel automobile was reported stolen at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday from a residential area.

Marriottsville

1700 block of Henryton Road: A tractor, chain saw and trimmer were reported stolen from an unlocked shed at8:45 a.m. Thursday from a residential area.
