Woman Dragged By Car During Purse-snatching

A 75-year-old woman was injured Saturday afternoon when she was dragged by a car during a purse-snatching, county police reported.

According to police, at 4 p.m. a car carrying a woman and a man pulled up in front of the woman's home in the 1000 block of Thomas Road in Glen Burnie. The car's occupants asked for directions to a nearby grocery store.

When the victim walked to the passenger side of the car, the passenger grabbed her purse as the driver drove away. The woman was dragged a few feet until she dropped her purse, police said.

The woman was treated and released from North Arundel Hospital in Glen Burnie, police said.

The driver of the car was described as a white woman in her mid-20s with bleached blond hair. The passenger was described as a white man in his mid-20s with dark brown hair.

BANK IN CROFTON ROBBED BY GUNMAN

County police were looking yesterday for the gunman who robbed the Signet bank in Crofton Friday evening.

Detectivessaid the robber walked into the bank at Crofton Center on Route 3 atabout 6 p.m. and demanded money from the teller. The teller gave himcash from the drawer and the robber left the bank.

Police described the man as white, about 30, with sandy blond hair and light-colored eyes. He was about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a dark-blue snowsuit with a red hooded sweat shirt.

TWO IN SEVERNA PARKCHARGED IN DRUG RAID

Two Severna Park residents were charged withpossession with intent to distribute marijuana after police raided ahome on Arundel Beach Road.

Police said narcotics officers serveda search warrant to the home in the first block of Arundel Beach Road and confiscated 687 grams of marijuana with a street value of about$6,870. Also confiscated were scales and $203.

Michael James Hubbard, 35, and Adelina Anna Hubbard, 34, residents of the home, were arrested.

JESSUP MAN ROBBED; THREE ARE CHARGED

Three men have been charged with robbing a Jessup man in Pioneer City early yesterday morning.

County police said the 25-year-old victim was in Pioneer Cityabout midnight when three men robbed him. The man's wife found a police officer in the neighborhood and told him that her husband was chasing the robbers.

The officer stopped three men in a blue Toyota that fit the description of the robbers as they were leaving Pioneer City.

John Yasuji Knight, 23, of the 100 block of Bunker Hill Lane in Odenton, Roland Marrero, 22, of the 8400 block of Pioneer Drive inSevern, and Jerome Edward Paylor, 23, of the 1300 Huntover Drive in Odenton, were charged with robbery.

WEAPONS CHARGES LODGED AGAINST MAN

An Edgewater man was arrested on weapons charges Friday night after a police officer caught him in the middle of an apparent holdup in Town Pine Court in Annapolis.

Gino A. Puglisi, 23, of the 3900 block of Cove Road, was charged with weapons violations after the officer allegedly saw him pointing a sawed-off shotgun at another man on West Washington Street, police said.

The officer was patrolling the area shortly before 8 p.m. when he noticed the confrontation, police said. When the officer pulled closer, the man slipped the gun undera 1978 Ford, police said. The other man ran away.

FIVE WOMEN ARRESTED IN PROSTITUTION CASE

Annapolis police arrested five women Fridaynight in a crackdown on prostitution along West Street.

The womenwere picked up in the neighborhood surrounding the 200 block of WestStreet, a section of the city that has become well-known for prostitution, police said.

All five were charged with prostitution after allegedly offering undercover police officers oral sex in exchange for money, police said.

The five-hour investigation was prompted by continuing complaints from residents of Citygate and the surrounding area, police said. Residents have complained for several months aboutprostitutes taking their clients into a park at the Citygate town house complex and littering the area with condoms.

Charged in the Friday night sweep were:

Rosa Lee Jones, 33, who gave no fixed address.

Kimberly Parker, 27, of Galesville.

Cheryl D. Brooks, 27, of the first block of Bates Street.

Susan Lynn Nowicki, 25, of the 900 block of Ridgewood Street.

Sue Ann Haskett, 38, of the 100 block of West Street.
