'Juice' does good business despite violence

January 21, 1992|By Knight-Ridder

In its first weekend of release, Ernest Dickerson's "Juice" did well at the box office, according to a Paramount Pictures spokesman, despite threat of and actual violence at several screenings.

The spokesman said yesterday that the movie's 1,089 screens grossed $7.2 million and only four -- two in Little Rock, Ark., one in Omaha, Neb., and one in Lansing, Mich. -- yanked the film after violence erupted at other venues.
