Elvis wins by a hair

It's your call

January 20, 1992

Opinions are divided almost right down the middle on Elvis Presley's suitability for recognition on a postage stamp. Of 1,138 callers to ''It's Your Call,'' 576 believe Elvis should be on a stamp, and 562 believe he should not. That's 50.6 percent in favor and 49.4 percent opposed.

Of those callers who expressed an opinion about the likeness of Elvis that should be used, 347 of 572 respondents (61 percent) favor a young Elvis rather than an older Elvis.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
