Old Mill Routs Annapolis In Wrestling Showdown

Defending state 4A/3A champion Old Mill (8-0) continued its winning ways in Friday's county wrestling showdown with a 48-14 triumph over home-standing Annapolis.

"I was hoping it would be closer, but they just beat us all the way around," said losing coach Dave Gehrdes, whose team dropped to 6-3.

"They have some good wrestlers. Obviously, they have the best team in the state. I've seen lots of teams this year, but they are the best. No one can beat them."

The match broke down as follows:

* 103 pounds -- Jason Bryant (OM) won by forfeit.

* 112 -- Steve Lundstrom (OM) dec. Kevin Owen, 10-9.

* 119 -- Vitas Dulys (OM) dec. Mike Zambernardi, 15-6.

* 125 -- Joe DeLong (OM) won by default over Ira Robbins.

* 130 -- Ken Seavy (OM) dec. Seth Robbins, 9-3.

* 135 -- Tom Sfakiyanudas (ANN) dec. Rick Oleszczuk, 7-5.

* 140 -- Ford Baumgardner (ANN) pinned Young Chang in 4:43.

* 145 -- JohnBliss (OM) pinned Dan Buckingham in 1:53.

* 152 -- Chip Cochran (ANN) dec. Todd Hultgren, 7-2.

* 160 -- Mark Procaccini (OM) tied Dan Flynn, 9-9.

* 171 -- Brian Layman (OM) pinned Kevin Berk in 1:01.

* 189 -- Ernie Longazel (OM) won by forfeit.

* Hvy -- Don Marco (OM) pinned Demond Galloway in 3:24.
