Here's what to look for if you're traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
New highway projects
Northbound U.S. 1 at Penn Avenue -- one lane of northbound U.S. 1 at Penn Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for about three weeks for maintenance work.
The Ostend Street bridge over Camden yards is closed because of construction. This is for bridge replacement and reconstruction of Ostend Street from Russell to Sharp streets and the resurfacing of Ostend Street from Sharp to Leadenhall streets. Project is to be completed in May 1993.
Fallsway between Eager, Biddle and Chase streets is closed due to reconstruction of Fallsway and Chase Street bridges.
Northbound U.S. 1 from Miller Road to Sheradale Drive -- has been switched to three-lane roadway, while the southbound roadway is being reconstructed. There is a daily two-lane traffic southbound until noon, when the traffic is reversed to two lanes northbound. Left turns are prohibited from Miller Road. Miller Road traffic can make all movements at the U.S. 1 and Perry Hall intersection.
I-95 north -- northbound roadway from the Beltway to White Marsh Boulevard, single lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The southbound roadway from White Marsh Boulevard to the Beltway will have single lane closings Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. There will also be single-lane closures on Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Speed limit will be 45 mph. There will also be various closing northbound and southbound from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving and construction work.
I-695 inner loop, bridge over Milford Mill Road -- Today two lanes northbound will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. for deck repairs.
I-95 southbound over I-95 northbound -- On Jan. 26, one lane southbound will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until noon for deck repairs.
Bus route changes:
The MTA has scheduled the following changes in bus routes for this week. Information: 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.
Nos. 13 (Social Security service) and 15 -- Effective tomorrow and continuing until further notice, the following temporary route will be followed because of weight restrictions on the Clifton Avenue Bridge over Windsor Mill Road. Westbound via regular route on Clifton Avenue to Lyndhurst Avenue, north on Lyndhurst, west on Windsor Mill Road, north on Talbot Road, west on Talbot, north on Clifton Avenue, then via regular route. Eastbound via regular route southbound on Clifton to Talbot, east on Talbot, south on Talbot, east on Windsor Mill, south on Lyndhurst, east on Clifton, then via regular route.
No. 15 service to and from Windsor Hills will operate on the bridge via regular a.m./p.m. routes as scheduled.
