Police to resume search for hunter lost in bay

January 15, 1992

Maryland Department of Natural Resources police were to resume searching today for a duck hunter who fell from a charter boat into Chesapeake Bay off Bodkin Point in Anne Arundel County.

The missing man, whose name was being withheld, was duck hunting in a 23-foot charter boat shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday when the vessel crossed over its own anchor and capsized, throwing five men into the water, police said.

Police said four of the men clung to the boat for more than two hours before they were rescued and taken ashore.

Shortly after the rescue, police marine units searched the area until nightfall, but they failed to find the missing man.

Police said two of the men rescued from the water were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis and treated for hypothermia and released. The other two were treated by the crew of an ambulance and released.
