A Mass of Christian burial for Nellie L. Hartman, a retired clerical worker who was active in Roman Catholic organizations, will be offered at 10 a.m. today in the Lady Chapel of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N. Charles St.
Mrs. Hartman, a native of the Eastern Shore who lived in North Baltimore for many years, died Jan. 6 of heart failure at the Jenkins Memorial Home, where she had lived since 1989. She was 95.
A member of the Sodality at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, she had been active in the International Federation of Catholic Alumnae, which named her alumna of the year in 1986.
Born in Secretary, the former Nellie L. Spence was a graduate of St. Catherine's Normal Institute in Baltimore.
She worked as a clerk for the Maryland Casualty Co. as a young woman. Later she was employed by the Reuben H. Donnelley Corp. and the Eutaw Savings Bank, from which she retired about 20 years ago.
Her husband, Willard Hartman, an assistant manager at Maryland Casualty, died in 1956.
She is survived by two sons, Richard A. Hartman of Baltimore and Willard A. Hartman of Wilmette, Ill.; a daughter, Sister Elinor S. Hartman, D.C., of Baltimore; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggested memorial contributions to the Jenkins Memorial Home.
