42-year-old Charged With Robbery, Kidnap

A Glen Burnie man was charged with robbing and kidnapping a driver who picked him up on Ritchie Highway Tuesday.

County police said atabout 11 p.m. the victim picked up a man whose car had broken down in the 7500 block of Ritchie Highway. The man told the driver that he had a gun and forced him to drive to Baltimore.

The gunman took $180 from the driver's wallet before he told him to drop him off at Monroe and Presbury streets in Baltimore, police said.

Donald B. Meyett, 42, of the 100 block of Martha Road, was picked up by two Baltimore officers and taken to Northern District station in Glen Burnie to be charged.


A 19-year-old Annapolis man was charged with breaking into three homes in the city, county police reported.

According to the report, officers were called to the 3000 block of Minon Road in Annapolis for a burglary that had just occurred. Officers began searching thearea for a bicycle taken from the home.

A short time later, officers stopped a man riding the stolen bike. During the investigation, police found that the same man was a suspect in two break-ins in the 3000 block of Rundelac Road in Annapolis.

Zireechee Mentress Hopkins, of the 300 block of Adams Street, was charged with three counts ofbreaking and entering, destruction of property and two counts of theft.


County police were looking yesterday for a man who broke into a Glen Burnie woman's home and beat her Wednesday.

According to the report, the 34-year-old woman,who lives in the unit block of Harriet Drive, was home with her three children at about 8 p.m. when someone knocked on the door.

As she opened the door, a masked man forced his way in and began beating her. The children ran to a neighbor's across the street and called police.

As the woman's daughter was going back to the house, she saw the man running down Route 648.

Police described the man as white,6 feet tall, with a heavy build. He was wearing a dark jacket.


Three Severn men were robbed late Wednesday night as they were walking in Pioneer City, county police said.

Detectives said the trio was walking along Arwell Court at about11:30 p.m. when two gunmen demanded money or drugs. They forced the victims to the ground and took their cash and jewelry before leaving in a burgundy-colored car.

Police described the first robber as a black man about 6 feet tall and wearing a blue sweat suit. The secondrobber was in his mid-20s and wearing a blue jacket and pants.


An Annapolis man was charged earlyyesterday with stealing two stereo speakers from a car parked on North Linden Avenue in Annapolis, police said.

Guy Edward Calhoun, 31, of the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue, was arrested about 12:15 a.m. onWest Street near Luskin's electronics store.

He faces charges of stealing two speakers, worth $600 each, from a car parked in the 200 block of North Linden Avenue. The speakers were recovered at North Glen and Poplar streets, police said.
