Volunteer Fire Company Will Be Serving It Up Sunday

Rise and shine Sunday and head west on Route 75 to Union Bridge.

Come early for breakfast, or make it brunch. The town fire company will be serving all you can eat from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall, Locust Street.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, gravy, puddin' and hominy.

Organizers also promise unlimited coffee, muffins and juice, too. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Information: 775-7422.

After breakfast and a short drive -- or a brisk walk -- down Main Street, you can step into trains. The Western Maryland Railway Museum offers an afternoon look into the world of model trains.

Doors open from 1 to 4 p.m. and visitors will see intricate layouts of tracks, trains and stations. Admission is by donation. This event continues on Sundays through January.

While youare in town, you might want to make plans and reservations for a return visit.

The fire company is organizing a bull and oyster roast to celebrate Super Bowl XXVI to begin two hours before kickoff Jan. 26.

Cost is $25 per person and includes buffet, favors, beer, set-ups and big screen televisions. A game room will be open, too.

Treat yourself and your loved ones. Take some time out Saturday to learn Community CPR with the Red Cross. Fee is $26 and registration is required.

Class runs from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 419D Malcolm Drive, Westminster.

Dance Saturday night away as the Chamber of Commerce has its annual dinner dance and installation of officers. An open bar precedes the prime rib dinner.

Admission is $30 per personand reservations are required. Proceeds benefit the Shaffer Scholarship Fund for Carroll students.

"Just Us" provides the music from 6:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Martin's Westminster, Route 140. Information: 848-9050.


Bundle up the children and head for the courts at Westminster High School from noon to 4 p.m.

Sunday. Boys and girls, age 8 to 13, are invited to shoot hoops in the 20th annual contest sponsored by the Elks.

Winners will be awarded trophies and will advance to the Western District Competition. Everybody gets a free T-shirt, too. No registration or fee required. Information: 876-1657.


Bring your own lights and dance squarely from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Carroll Promenaders, a modern square dance club, plans a Flashlight Dance.
