Salesman, veteran

Graveside services for Robert I. Gable, a salesman for Bearings Inc. of Baltimore, will be at 2 p.m. todayat Mount Rose Cemetery in York, Pa.

Mr. Gable, a resident of Dundalk for 10 years, died of lung cancer Thursday at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was 62.

Before arriving at Bearings four years ago, Mr. Gable worked as a salesman for the Baltimore-based Slaysmen Company for six years. He previously worked for companies in Charlotte, N.C., and Philadelphia.

A native of Winona, Minn., Mr. Gable graduated from high school in Sturgeon, Minn., and earned his bachelor's degree in education from Winona State College in 1959.

From 1959 to 1962 he taught science and industrial arts at schools in Union and Whitmire, S.C., and was the principal of the elementary school in Union.

He was an Army corporal during the Korean War.

Mr. Gable was an active member of the Dundalk United Pentecostal Church for the last eight years as a Sunday school teacher, foreign missions director and church elder.

Mr. Gable is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Georgie Tankersley; two daughters, Patricia and Brenda Gable, and two sons, Clinton and Steven Gable, all of Dundalk; two brothers, Floyd Gable of Germany and Lee Gable of Nebraska; and two sisters, Juliana Hungerholt of Winona and Evelyn Moran of Aurora, Ill.

The family suggests that contributions be made to the Dundalk United Pentecostal Building Fund, 1717 Broening Highway, Dundalk, Md., 21222.
