What's going on is the annual, year-end run for the Oscars, with TV providing the most crucial helping.

The Oscar speculation is especially thick on TV's morning circuit.

This year, "Today" is the show of choice among Hollywood's elite. Some days, three movies were discussed in one show. It devoted five segments each to "Hook," "JFK," "Bugsy" and "The Prince of Tides," including a three-part interview with "Tides" star-director Streisand.
