Robbery Attempt Outside Bar Fails

An Arnold man has been charged with attempted robbery after threatening a bar patron with a piece of glass Friday.

County police said the victim was getting out of his car at Shooter's sports bar in the 900 block of Ritchie Highway at about 9:30 p.m. when a man wielding apiece of broken glass demanded his wallet.

As the victim reached into his pocket with one hand, he punched the man with the other.

A man inside the bar ran out to help the victim, and the would-be robber fled, police said.

A short time later, officers on patrol picked up a suspect as he was walking down a nearby road.

Jason Richard Trader, 31, of the unit block of SheridanRoad was taken to Eastern District Station for charging.

POLICE GRANT WISH FOR '3 HOTS AND A COT'

A Bowie man was charged with assaultafter police said he picked a fight with an officer early Saturday morning in Gambrills.

According to the police report, the man walked up to an officer inside the Mobil gas station in the 2200 block of Defense Highway and asked to use the inside phone.

He told OfficerJ. R. Hartzell that he wanted "three hots and a cot," a street term for jail.

Acccording to the report, the man smelled of alcohol andwhen Hartzell told him he had to use the outside pay phone, the man asked what would happen if he started a fight.

Hartzell said he tried to dissuade the man, who then attempted to hit the officer.

Hartzell also charged Jeffrey Keith Brooke, 32, of the 100 block Salem Road, with disorderly intoxication, the report said.

GLEN BURNIE MAN ROBBED OF BOOK BAG

A 19-year-old Glen Burnie man was robbed of hisbook bag Friday outside a home in Freetown Village, police said.

Officers said the victim was standing with another man on Liberty Circle at about 4 p.m., when the robber walked up and asked for a cigarette. The robber snatched the book bag out of the victim's hand and ran away.

The robber was described as a black man, about 6 feet tall, wearing a black and yellow jacket.

200 block of Oakdale Road: Saturday, entry gained through door. Eighteen cans of beer taken. Total loss: $20.

Severna Park:

Unit block of Spiegels Way: Thursday, entry gained through door. Unknown property taken.
