Academy Holiday Schedule

The U.S. Naval Academy has announced its holiday schedule.

Of theacademy's gates, only Gate 3, facing Maryland Avenue, will be open 24 hours a day through Jan. 4.

Gate 1, at the intersection of King George and Randall streets near the City Dock, closes at 5 p.m. through Dec. 30, and Jan. 2 through 4. On New Year's Eve, it will stay open until 1 a.m.

This gate will be closed New Year's Day.

Gate 8, the entrance from Route 450,will close each night at 9 p.m. through Jan. 4.

The Naval AcademyGift Shop, in Ricketts Hall, is closed for the holidays. Starting Jan. 4, it will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays only.

The Visitor Information Center and the Tour Guide Service, also in Ricketts Hall, are closed. They will reopen Jan. 2 for normal operations, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week.

The Naval Academy Museum in Preble Hall will be open between 9 a.m. and noon New Year's Eve, but will be closed New Year's Day. During the rest of the holiday season, the museum will be open for its regular hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday toSaturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The crypt of John Paul Jones is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, except New Year's Eve, when it closes at noon. The crypt will be closed New Year's Day.

The Naval Academy Chapel isopen for its regular hours, 8 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., except on New Year's Eve, when it closes at noon. On New Year's Day, the chapel will close after church services.

Starting Jan. 2, the chapel will be closed except on Saturday and Sunday.

After Jan. 1, daily Catholic services will be held in the All Faiths Chapel in Mitscher Hall. The Sunday morning communion service at 8:30 a.m. will also take place in the All Faiths Chapel after Jan. 1.
