Whs Girls Lose In Final

The Arundel girls basketball team scored 16 of the game's last 19 points to beat Westminster, 64-51, in the finals of the Arundel Christmas Tournament Friday.

With the score tied at 48 with 3:33 remaining in the fourth quarter, Arundel senior guard Mary Pat Fannon took over by scoring the next eight points to lift Arundel past the Owls.

The Owls record falls to 4-3 on the season. They reached the finals with a 56-47 win against Northeast, in Anne Arundel County, Thursday.

In the finals, Westminster led, 27-22, at the half and had itsbiggest lead at 33-26 midway through the third quarter, when Kenya Warfield scored inside.

But Arundel tied the score at 39 at the endof the quarter and dominated the final quarter, outscoring Westminster, 25-12.

Judie Marcus led the Owls with 15 points, followed by Denise Bollinger's seven. Tina Houck, Jessica Farinholt and Warfield had six apiece.
