Here's what to look for if you're traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

Highway projects

The Ostend Street bridge over Camden Yards is closed because of construction. This is for bridge replacement and reconstruction of Ostend Street from Russell to Sharp streets and the resurfacing of Ostend Street from Sharp to Leadenhall Street. Project is to be completed in May 1992.

Fallsway between Eager, Biddle and Chase streets is closed due to reconstruction of Fallsway and Chase Street bridges.

Bus route changes

The MTA has scheduled the following changes in bus routes for this week. Information: 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.

Temporary rerouting

No. 20 -- Beginning tomorrow and continuing until further notice, bus route on Baltimore Street between Hilton and Catherine streets will be temporarily changed due to revised weight restrictions for the bridge over the Gwynns Falls. Eastbound via regular route to Hilton and Baltimore, south on Hilton, west and south on Fred Hilton Pass, east on Frederick Avenue, north on Catherine, east on Baltimore, then via regular route. Westbound via regular route on Baltimore to Catherine, south on Catherine, west on Frederick, north on Hilton to Baltimore, then via regular route.

Holiday service

On New Year's Eve, MTA buses will follow regular schedule and the Baltimore Metro will be open an additional two hours, closing at 2 a.m. instead of midnight. On New Year's Day, buses will operate on a Sunday schedule and the Metro is closed.

Continuing diversion

No. 21 -- Until further notice, eastbound buses are traveling regular route on Biddle Street to Guilford Avenue, north on Guilford, east on Federal Street, south on Greenmount Avenue, east on Biddle, then via regular route. No change westbound.
