Porter's 20 paces Walbrook in rout Basketball

Jermaine Porter scored 20 points to lead No. 3 Walbrook (7-1) to a 75-47 victory over Warwick (2-3) of Newport News, Va., in the first round of the Fort Eustis (Va.) Tournament yesterday.

Rob Wooster scored 24, as No. 4 Annapolis (4-0) routed Poly (1-4), 93-64, in the first round of the Capital City Classic at Annapolis. The Panthers will meet Cardoza in tonight's championship game at 8.

Haywood Eaddy had 15 points and five steals and Deon Crawford added 14 points, seven assists and seven steals to lead No. 6 Southwestern (7-0) to a 65-45 win over Mervo in the Southwestern Christmas Tournament championship game. Andre Crockett and Charles Walker scored 27 each to lead Northwestern over Patterson, 84-63, in the consolation game.

Robbie Somerville scored 19, as No. 20 Meade (3-1) routed Edgewood (3-2), 73-48, in the opening round of the Meade Christmas Tournament. The Mustangs will meet Old Mill (4-2), a 76-56 winner over Glen Burnie (3-2), in tonight's final at 8. Ravon Austin scored 25 to pace Old Mill.

Victor Carter-Bey had 29 points and 11 rebounds to lead Gilman (4-5) to a 57-43 victory over Park in the opening round of the Gilman Tournament. The Greyhounds will meet Sidwell Friends of Washington, a 48-46 winner over Lawrenceville (N.J.), in the championship game tonight at 8.

Damian Biggs scored 20 and Brian Reid added 16, as Centennial (5-2) routed Frederick, 85-56, in the opening round of the North Carroll Tournament. The Eagles will meet the winner of last night's North Carroll-Franklin game in tonight's championship game at 8.

Albert Smith scored 15 and Brad Midgett and Bill Mulcahy added 14 to lead Dulaney (5-1) to a 63-54 victory over Loch Raven (4-1) in the championship game of the Dulaney Invitational.

Marc Terry scored 24 to lead Oakland Mills (4-4) to a 65-54 win over Walkersville in the consolation game of the WFMD Teacher's Tournament at Thomas Johnson.

Girls

Sarah Bannat had 13 points and nine rebounds to lead No. 6 Broadneck (5-0) to a 43-24 win over No. 13 Mercy (6-3) in the semifinals of the Noel Classic at Archbishop Spalding. The Bruins will meet No. 4 St. Mary's (7-2), a 52-41 winner over Spalding (5-6), in tonight's championship game at 8. Bridget Smith scored 15 and Randall Goldsborough added 13 to lead St. Mary's.

Sonia Keiner scored 22 and Kacey Williams added 20 to lead No. 5 Hammond (6-0) to a 56-47 win over Paint Branch (4-3) in the Bear Invitational championship game at Hammond. In the consolation game, Melba Chambers scored 29 to lead St. Frances (5-4) over Wilde Lake (3-3), 51-42.

Tanissa Dorsey had 31 points, eight rebounds and four assists to lead No. 10 Glenelg (5-1) over Brunswick, 59-50, in the opening round of the Linganore Tournament.

Celena Falline scored 23, as No. 14 Lake Clifton (3-2) routed South River (1-5), 84-35, in the opening round of the Capital City Classic at Annapolis. The Lakers will meet No. 20 Annapolis (3-1), a 61-47 winner over Glen Burnie (2-3), in tonight's championship game at 6. Shannon Henderson scored 19 to lead Annapolis.
