Jets are downright comfortable with their underdog role

NEW YORK -- On Oct. 13, the scoreboard at Giants Stadium read: Oilers 23, Jets 20. Last season, the scoreboard at the Astrodome read: Jets 17, Oilers 12.

Something the point spread may not be taking into account.

The Jets are busy preparing for Sunday's AFC wild-card game the Oilers in Houston -- thanks to the field-goal heroics of ex-Giants kicker Raul Allegre.

On Monday night, Allegre's wife, Christina -- who is six months pregnant with their first child -- arrived from Texas to spend the holiday with him at the lovely Long Island Marriott. And on Tuesday, they spent Christmas Eve in New Jersey with friends from his Giants days.

"Then we came back to the hotel about 11:30 or so," Allegre said,."
